Marla has a diverse multimedia background in the arts. Marla’s career started in film, graduating from the Los Angeles Film School with a major in Production Design. Later studying Art Direction at FDI Pinewood Studios. At 21 years old Marla became the youngest member of the American Art Directors Guild, she has production designed an array of independent feature films, TV shows and commercials. IMDB.
Marla evolved her experience as a production designer to other elements of creativity. Her feature directorial debut “The White Picket Fence Project”, co- directed with Tamarin Kaplan, produced with Lynette Howell (“A Star Is Born” & “Blue Valentine”) awarded the 2012 FLICKERS: The Rhode Island International Film Festival, International Ambassadors Award and the 2012 CALIFORNIA FILM AWARDS, Diamond Award Winner for Documentary Film Competition. The documentary inspired by the resilience and will to succeed from the young people she came across during her work for The One To One Children’s Fund.
Marla founded Cantine in 2014, an award winning social agency specialising in creative and audience strategy for music artists and brands. Clients include Nike, NHSBT, Disney, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group. Under the banner of Cantine, Marla oversaw strategy, and produced and directed multiple forms of content for music artists and brands.
Propelled by the events surrounding the on set of the pandemic, Cantine evolved into Cantine Technology - an emotional intelligence company powered by music, psychology and science. The B2B product was created to enable people to feel and perform better through the music they listen to.
